You are You: Women and body image

One of my favorite things about doing shows is getting to interact with women like you. It always reminds me why I design. However, there is also a part of doing shows that makes me take a step back.

Every show, I hear woman after woman share stories of what they don’t like about their bodies. I know, I know, I”m a woman too, and I have days where I’m not a big fan of how I look either, we all of have those. But most of us have them too often, and for no good reason.

What I love about shows is starting with a woman that is unsure about herself, adding a scarf to her look and seeing her face light up and her posture change. THAT’S WHY I DESIGN.

Ladies we need you, we need you to be you, the full you. We need you to share your ideas, to speak your voice, to stand up. And for that to happen you need to be confident and feel good about yourself.

I know that you’re saying that you think my scarves look cool, and that I can wear them because I’m young, tall and thin. Yes, I can hear you thinking. But the truth is YOU can wear them too. I wouldn’t make them if you couldn’t.

I”m not designing for the young, tall , thin women. I’m designing for the women that has a voice, a passion, a story that needs to get out into the world, and that’s you.
