What to give your mom for Mothers Day

I just celebrated my 30th birthday, and while I received some awesome gifts, the gifts are never what we remember.

We remember the events, the time spent with family and friends. The things that made us laugh and made us cry, those stick with us, those are the stories that we retell.

My mom and I are similar in many ways, and one of our gifts, is to be oblivious to that going on around us… well sometimes it’s a gift sometimes it’s a weakness, and when the two of us are together, it just becomes amusing.

A few months ago my mom traveled to Philly with me to help at a wholesale show, knowing us, my husband carefully booked a hotel, right beside the convention center, the parking garage, and the Reading Terminal Market. He felt that if we stuck to one street, we just might make it home.

While in school, my mom and I were running errands, we walked out the parking lot, climbed in our van, and after sitting for a few minutes, realized that in fact, was not our van. We were in someone else’s car.

I wish that I could say that this story is shocking to our family, but it’s more of a given.

Memories have a way of lasting longer, and meaning more than most gifts. This Mother’s day give your mom, and yourself the gift of spending the afternoon together, and creating what will surely be a great memory. We relax and create.

No worries if you don’t feel that you’re creative or good at art, as noted, no matter the end result, the story and the memory will always bring a smile to your face.
