Art from the Heart

My scarves focus on bringing confidence into people’s lives, and sharing stories. I’ve been thinking about how I can make this a stronger part of the content and stories that I share on the blog.

A few months ago, my mom was in charge of vacation Bible school at her church, and as part of the week,  the kids were raising money for Back2Back Ministries which is an organization that runs several orphanages in Mexico. It is an international Christian organization dedicated to being a voice for orphans. The children could give their money toward clothing, education, medical care, food and shelter.

As the children worked to raise money, my mom shared a story of how one of the children, Chloe, was using her artwork to raise  money. I was so excited and impressed that I purchased one of her works of art and wanted to share the story with you.

Here’s what she did: Chloe created paintings, and laminated them with her own small machine. She then put her works on display for family, friends, and church members to purchase. She did not charge for her pictures but asked for donations which came to over $200. She bought her supplies from her profits but otherwise donated all of it to the organization.

Together the students were able to raise over $600.00

Do you have a story of someone making a positive change in the world? I want to hear it. Leave your story in the comments below.
