The Perfect Shirt for traveling, and overall living life

With the blink of an eye, school is out, and it’s summer. Well maybe a bit more than a blink, in fact that last day with students was anything but fast. In fact that last 45 minutes of the day, I managed to tell a student that he couldn’t dress up like a member of the KKK, to put his pants on, to put his shirt on…. well and overall just to please keep his clothes on, until he left for the day.

The day ended, I drove home, poured a glass of wine ( I may have poured more than one, as different rules apply for days like the last day of school), headed to the studio and started weaving shirts.

I’d been thinking about making tops for almost a year. That’s fairly usual. I leave ideas float around in my head for a long time before they’re allowed to come out. It’s an attempt to work out all of the problems in my head, instead of on the loom, and usually works pretty well.

Whether it was the wine, or the fact that I just ended the day trying to keep my students in their clothes, it was clear that today was the day that I was going to start making tops.

As with most creative projects that I start, I became rather obsessed, making slight changed and corrections with each design, until I had something that I loved.

Then came the desire to make a lot of them. When I dress the loom, I put 8 yards of yarn on, and oh how much fun it is to unravel all of that woven fabric. ( you’ll have to trust me on that one.)

I’m so freakin excited about everyone having one of these tops, that I’ve put them in the shop , at a crazy price for the amount of time that they take to weave, but I need you to have or two.

Oh yeah, and even crazier, I”m giving one away.
